Pinovo Is "dead chuffed" to have been chosen as one of the 10 Finalists in the #OceanPitchChallenge2023, an initiative organised by RespectOcean and Sustainable Ocean Alliance! 🎉
We are in very good company - check out the other Finalists on the RespectOcean website (https://www.respectocean.com/concours-ocean-pitch-challenge-decouvrez-les-10-finalistes-2023/) - all impressive Ocean solutions.
You can register to attend the Grand Final which will take place on 23 May, 2023, and vote for Pinovo (hopefully!) during the public voting at https://lnkd.in/evsbnXQF
This will a great opportunity for us to continue to shine a light on the problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution, and Pinovo's solution, and we are really looking forward to it!
Because, don't forget - #PaintIsPlastic
🌍 This Challenge is endorsed by UN Ocean Decade
48 leading scientists and researchers have just published 215 pages of analysis, findings, and recommendations on the impact of Plastic and Microplastic Pollution 🤔 , and it makes for some very sobering reading 😟 .
The Minderoo-Monaco Commission brought together worldwide experts on plastic and human health to highlight the potential harm toxic chemical additives in plastic can cause. They provide us with an impressive and comprehensive study 💪 , and answers to the all important "So what?!" question on Plastic Pollution 🤔.
The Commission's extensive findings included
- that the toxic chemicals in fossil-fuel plastic increase the risk of miscarriage, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other major health concerns,
-Paint is increasingly recognised as an important source of marine Microplastics, and the potentially toxic additives in Paint are shed into the environment from ships and other marine megastructures, such as oil rigs,
- the health repercussions of Plastic disproportionately affect vulnerable, low-income & minority communities, particularly children.
So, what can we do about it❓
Well, the good news is the planned, legally binding UN Global Plastics Treaty can make a real difference 😄 , and the Commission recommends the following should be included in that Treaty
✅ A global cap on plastic production.
✅ A ban/restriction on manufacture and use of single-use plastics.
✅ Extension of the scope of the Global Plastics Treaty beyond microplastics and marine litter to include all of the many thousands of chemicals incorporated into plastics.
✅ Establishment of health-protective standards for plastic chemicals, requiring testing of all polymers and plastics chemicals for toxicity before they enter markets.
✅ Inclusion of mechanisms for reducing the complexity of plastic products
✅ Enactment and enforcement of legislation and policy frameworks on Extended Producer Responsibility.
Pinovo welcomes and strongly supports the Minderoo-Monaco Commission report. We believe its clear findings on the negative impact of Plastic and Microplastic Pollution on human health, and its recommendations for action in tackling the problem, will add considerable weight to the efforts of negotiators at INC-2 on the UN Global Plastics Treaty in Paris in May, 2023.

At KONGSTEIN, we take the #GreenShift seriously!
That is why we partnered with Pinovo to support the spread of #CleanBlasting in offshore wind installation processes.

Great to be at the FILIERE PEINTURE ANTICORROSION #RPA trade show in Paris yesterday with our French distributor SA3 - SPONGE JET, and to see their current and potential customers' interest in Pinovo's clean, dustless surface treatment technology. Industries like Oil&Gas, Defence and Infrastructure are adopting the clean sustainable solution. Shouldn't you?
Why? Zero Paint Microplastic Emissions, 62% less CO2 Emissions than traditional open grit blasting, and substantially better working conditions for operators. What's not to like?!
Contact Eddy Segretin at SA3 - SPONGE JET in France, or Pinovo to learn more.
And remember, #PaintIsPlastic!
A big thanks to UpLink - World Economic Forum for inviting Pinovo to attend the Villars Institute Summit 2023 this week. It has given us a great opportunity to put the problem of #Paint #Microplastic #Pollution, and Pinovo's solution, "on the agenda" of the global collaborators who have come together to tackle some of the planet’s most pressing challenges.
And don't forget, #PaintIsPlastic

🚗 💨 Kind words from Declan Mc Adams, Chairman and Co-founder of Pinovo, overheard at the Villars Institute Summit 2023!
Pinovo builds zero-emission circular maintenance tools which prevent toxins, heavy metals and microplastics from contaminating our oceans.

Pinovo, an UpLink - World Economic Forum Top Innovator, has collaborated with Nina Jensen, a member of Friends of Ocean Action, and CEO of REV Ocean on an issue that is close both of our organisations' hearts, and part of our mission - stopping 🛑 Microplastic Pollution.
We have published a joint article on the World Economic Forum Agenda Blog setting out why we must deal with this issue as part of the #UN Plastics Treaty, and why if we don't, we will have failed 👎 !

solar impulse foundation includes Pinovo's clean blasting solution in its "Solutions guide for cities"
Pinovo is proud to have the Solar Impulse Foundation Efficient Solution Label, and we were delighted to have been included in their Solutions Guide for Cities (see page 68!).
In that Guide, we profiled the sustainable surface treatment work that the specialised Rope Access contractors, ProAccess Sweden AB did on the Höga Kusten Bridge near Veda in Sweden, using Pinovo's clean blasting solution, and our patented PiCo Pipe tools.
The contractors were able to remove the old paint and rust on the suspension bridge cables, without scaffolding and sheeting, and with no #Paint#Microplastic #Emissions into the river Ångermanälven, that runs underneath what is the largest bridge in Sweden.
Why does this matter? Because #PaintIsPlastic, and paint is the biggest source of Microplastic Pollution, according to The Pew Charitable Trusts.
A big thanks to Solar Impulse Foundation for your support in putting the problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution, and Pinovo's clean solution, "on the agenda"!
Pinovo was delighted to send our clean surface treatment equipment to the Swedish Navy (Swedish Armed Forces) for the first time last week. This is in addition to our existing customers in that industry - the Royal Norwegian Navy, and the Royal Navy in the UK.
For security reasons, we obviously do not talk about the work we do for individual Defence Industry customers. What we can say however that it is often related to our capacity
- to work in challenging environments e.g. surface preparation inside the torpedo tube on a submarine, or
- to do clean spot blasting safely beside unprotected, highly sophisticated, very sensitive and valuable equipment e.g. surface treatment of hatches on the deck of a frigate.
In addition, the defence industry recognises the importance of Sustainability, and Ocean Protection and Ocean Health. For example, when surface treatment is being done on the outside of a submarine, or on the deck of a frigate, they want to stop Paint Microplastic Pollution entering the Ocean.
For all of these good industrial and sustainability reasons, our defence industry customers have chosen to use Pinovo’s clean blasting solution, after long and demanding selection processes.
Should your industrial or marine operation not be switching from the traditional dirty, pollutive methods of surface treatment - open grit blasting, and high pressure water jetting - to the sustainable solution of clean circular vacuum blasting?

Great to see The Pew Charitable Trusts highlight the importance of #Paint as a source of #Microplastic #Pollution. Check out their quiz on #Microplastics below 👇 , test your knowledge 🤔, and find out just how big a problem Paint is (Spoiler Alert - 🥇 )!
Pew's intervention will help drive action by policy makers and regulators, such as the #eucommission, to require use of clean solutions to stop Microplastic Emissions at source, like Pinovo and Matter. , and remove them like Wasser 3.0 gGmbH. It will also help drive capital into the development of new clean solutions. Winnie Lau and your team at Pew 💪 !
