A big thanks to UpLink - World Economic Forum for inviting Pinovo to attend the Villars Institute Summit 2023 this week. It has given us a great opportunity to put the problem of #Paint #Microplastic #Pollution, and Pinovo's solution, "on the agenda" of the global collaborators who have come together to tackle some of the planet’s most pressing challenges.
And don't forget, #PaintIsPlastic POST ON LINKEDIN FROM UpLink - World Economic Forum UpLink - World Economic Forum 🚗 💨 Kind words from Declan Mc Adams, Chairman and Co-founder of Pinovo, overheard at the Villars Institute Summit 2023! Pinovo builds zero-emission circular maintenance tools which prevent toxins, heavy metals and microplastics from contaminating our oceans. We have published a joint article on the World Economic Forum Agenda Blog setting out why we must deal with this issue as part of the #UN Plastics Treaty, and why if we don't, we will have failed 👎 ! Follow this link to the article - 👉 https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2023/03/microplastics-how-we-can-tackle-them/ Follow this link to read a great article from Gemma Parkes of Friends of Ocean Action at the World Economic Forum explaining why the High Seas Treaty breakthrough this week really matters!

In that Guide, we profiled the sustainable surface treatment work that the specialised Rope Access contractors, ProAccess Sweden AB did on the Höga Kusten Bridge near Veda in Sweden, using Pinovo's clean blasting solution, and our patented PiCo Pipe tools. The contractors were able to remove the old paint and rust on the suspension bridge cables, without scaffolding and sheeting, and with no #Paint#Microplastic #Emissions into the river Ångermanälven, that runs underneath what is the largest bridge in Sweden. Why does this matter? Because #PaintIsPlastic, and paint is the biggest source of Microplastic Pollution, according to The Pew Charitable Trusts. A big thanks to Solar Impulse Foundation for your support in putting the problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution, and Pinovo's clean solution, "on the agenda"! Pinovo was delighted to send our clean surface treatment equipment to the Swedish Navy (Swedish Armed Forces) for the first time last week. This is in addition to our existing customers in that industry - the Royal Norwegian Navy, and the Royal Navy in the UK.
For security reasons, we obviously do not talk about the work we do for individual Defence Industry customers. What we can say however that it is often related to our capacity - to work in challenging environments e.g. surface preparation inside the torpedo tube on a submarine, or - to do clean spot blasting safely beside unprotected, highly sophisticated, very sensitive and valuable equipment e.g. surface treatment of hatches on the deck of a frigate. In addition, the defence industry recognises the importance of Sustainability, and Ocean Protection and Ocean Health. For example, when surface treatment is being done on the outside of a submarine, or on the deck of a frigate, they want to stop Paint Microplastic Pollution entering the Ocean. For all of these good industrial and sustainability reasons, our defence industry customers have chosen to use Pinovo’s clean blasting solution, after long and demanding selection processes. Should your industrial or marine operation not be switching from the traditional dirty, pollutive methods of surface treatment - open grit blasting, and high pressure water jetting - to the sustainable solution of clean circular vacuum blasting? #PaintIsPlastic #PaintMicroplastics #SaveOurOcean #SDG14 Great to see The Pew Charitable Trusts highlight the importance of #Paint as a source of #Microplastic #Pollution. Check out their quiz on #Microplastics below 👇 , test your knowledge 🤔, and find out just how big a problem Paint is (Spoiler Alert - 🥇 )!
Pew's intervention will help drive action by policy makers and regulators, such as the #eucommission, to require use of clean solutions to stop Microplastic Emissions at source, like Pinovo and Matter. , and remove them like Wasser 3.0 gGmbH. It will also help drive capital into the development of new clean solutions. Three important figures in the Ocean world went on the record over the last week about the vital need for #Microplastics to be a top priority in the next round of negotiations of the UN Plastics Treaty, which are due to take place in Paris in May, 2023. Firstly, Ambassador Peter Thomson, #UnitedNations Secretary General's Special Envoy for the Ocean, and Co-Chair of Friends of Ocean Action, during a panel discussion at #wef23, spoke about the Treaty negotiations, and said that "...the process is proceeding very strongly, and I have a lot of hope that particularly Microplastics will get the attention that it needs...". In a later Global Plastic Action Partnership session, the new Director General of WWF, Kirsten Schuijt, said "Microplastics is probably the one we should be prioritising...from a human health perspective... Its the Microplastics that get into the bloodstream, and recent research is showing that it even ends up most likely into the brain....It also gets into the marine mammals and the oceans with all the devastating effects...." Finally, Nina Jensen, CEO of REV Ocean and one of the Friends of Ocean Action, made a great Post on this important topic. If you are one of the few people who has not read it yet, check out 👉 https://lnkd.in/ej83WMev Pinovo has a proven, clean, circular solution to the problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution, with 🚫 No #PaintMicroplastic, Grit and Dust Leakage, ⬇️ Over 60% less CO2 Emissions compared to open grit blasting, 💪 Much improved working conditions for Operators. Because, #PaintIsPlastic! #SaveOurOcean #SDG14 We continue to develop and enhance our industry leading, clean surface treatment technology, to improve its industrial and #sustainability features.
Over this winter, we have a project to add sensors (#IoT) to our equipment. This will enable us collect operational and sustainability #data, enhancing reliability and performance, and providing data to customers for their sustainability reporting. These machines are now on their way to Scotland for use by Babcock International Group for the Royal Navy, and to Dubai where they will be operated by Drydocks World - Dubai, a subsidiary of DP World. These industry leading customers chose Pinovo's technology because of its industrial benefits, and also because it delivers a quantifiable sustainability impact with 1. No #PaintMicroplastic, Grit and Dust Leakage - SDG's 12, 14 2. Over 60% less CO2 Emissions compared to open grit blasting - SDG’s 9, 12 3. Much improved working conditions for Operators - SDG 8 Clean Blasting is being adopted by leading sustainable operators in the #defence industry, and in #docks and #ports. Should your Industrial or Marine operation not be doing the same? And remember, #PaintIsPlastic! #SaveOurOcean #SDG14 |
