Last week, we told you about the Problem of #Paint #Microplastic #Pollution and showed you the science based, data driven evidence of the scale of that Problem (https://lnkd.in/ehVyRhK8). Now, we want to remind you of Pinovo's tried and tested solution to that Problem. Watch the World Economic Forum video below.
The Problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution and Pinovo's solution are now firmly "on the Agenda" with great support and encouragement from UpLink - World Economic Forum .

Science based, data driven evidence of the scale of the Paint Microplastic Leakage problem, from the scientific team mandated by IUCN for their 2017 "Primary Microplastics in the Oceans: a Global Evaluation of Sources" report.
Watch the video on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kag7RevqEmw Robotics will be key to delivering high levels of productivity with sustainable vacuum solutions, for large, flat surfaces, and workscopes without complex geometries. Sustainability will be a requirement for all surface treatment going forward, and a necessary feature of all solutions, as a result of regulatory action to stop #Paint #Microplastic #Pollution. Pinovo, with its sustainable technology, is delighted to be working with the great team at Remotion AS, a leading supplier of robotic vehicles for offshore splash zone operations. In their ground breaking RoboCoat solution, Remotion AS is using Pinovo’s clean blasting technology, with bespoke front-end tools to deliver surface roughness, and a better paint system for customers. If your Marine or Industrial operation is planning its maintenance programmes for 2023, why not consider this clean, sustainable, productive solution? Remember #PaintIsPlastic https://www.linkedin.com/posts/remotion-as_robocoat-the-next-generation-hull-maintenance-activity-6997826148495691777-0GZl?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop Paint, a very important source of Ocean Microplastic Pollution, is now firmly “on the agenda” of leading scientists in the field of Microplastic Pollution research, thanks to NAMC and NORCE Norwegian Research Centre!
The North Atlantic Microplastic Centre (NAMC) brings together scientists who specialise in research on sampling, analysing, toxicity testing, monitoring and tracking of Microplastics. In addition, they study the impact of those Microplastics on Human, Animal and Plant life, together with the important issues of Mitigation and Regulation. On Tuesday 8 November in Bergen, NAMC held their Annual Seminar, and it was super impressive to learn about the breath of the research underway by the different teams of scientists, and to hear the progress being made in their on-going work. Gunhild Bødtker and Alessio Gomiero, who lead NAMC, very kindly invited Pinovo to make a presentation to the NAMC Annual Seminar, in our home town Bergen, with the title "Paint Microplastic Pollution: Hiding in plain sight, but not any longer!”. We were delighted to talk about - why #PaintIsPlastic 🎨 😲 - the risks of "Mismanaged Paint" ☹️ - how come this is “news" to so many, even in the scientific community? Take a bow, CEPE! 👎 - what has happened to change things? - Take a bow, UpLink - World Economic Forum , IUCN, EA - Environmental Action, Nina Jensen, REV Ocean 👍🙏 - what happens next? Important reports are expected to be published by the #eucommission (EU Environment and Climate) and The Pew Charitable Trusts in the coming months, signalling the direction of regulatory action on Paint Microplastic Pollution. 👏 - the different solutions to the problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution, including Pinovo’s Clean Blasting Technology 💪 - What Action is necessary now? * research and findings on the impact of Microplastic Pollution on human, animal and plant life - the "So what?!", * paint industry to educate its customers on the risks of mismanaged paint, * regulators to create a level playing field for all paint companies, * paint users to adopt measures to stop Paint Microplastic Pollution or, quite simply, #ResponsibleConsumption! Great to learn from Hans Kleivdal that NAMC will be actively contributing to the upcoming negotiations on the proposed UN Plastics Treaty bringing science based, data driven evidence on the subject of Microplastics to the negotiating table. Also great to see Jotun's engagement on the subject of Sustainability and Microplastic Pollution. Pinovo is playing its part in solving the problem of Paint Microplastic Pollution, by promoting our clean technology and achieving its adoption in different industries across Europe, and also by raising awareness of the problem and solutions with industry, regulators and the public. Pinovo has been very busy throughout 2022 bringing our sustainable clean surface treatment solution to significant oil and gas production facilities in the North Sea, delivering quantifiable sustainability impact with
1. No Paint Microplastic, Grit and Dust Leakage - SDG's 12, 14 2. Over 60% less CO2 Emissions compared to open grit blasting - SDG’s 9, 12 3. Much improved working conditions for Operators - SDG 8 In addition to a lot of activity in Scandinavia, and the Benelux region this year, we are happy to report that our distributor in Aberdeen, GCSG Distribution Ltd. has been very active in the offshore oil&gas sector. Working with the contractor Bilfinger UK, Pinovo's technology has been in demand for both its sustainability and industrial advantages. We have been on the Elgin-Franklin field operated by TotalEnergies and Ithaca Energy, and also on the Britannia platform operated by Harbour Energy - photos of the rigs below. It is great to see not just long established oil and gas operators like TotalEnergies switching to clean sustainable surface treatment solutions, but also the more recent operators like Ithaca Energy and Harbour Energy. The switch is on to Clean Blasting Solutions! Should your industrial or marine operation not be doing the same?! |
