Pinovo welcomes the timely and important report by the team of scientists at Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA), lead by Idun Rognerud, on #microplastics in a Global Agreement on #PlasticPollution. Pinovo was delighted to be asked to join the panel discussion to launch the report.
We agree 💯% with the NIVA recommendation that the proposed UN Plastics Treaty should specifically address #microplastics as a distinct category of plastic pollution, warranting specific control measures. This includes, of course, #PaintMicroplastics - the biggest source of #Ocean Microplastic Leakage. In addition to the continuing negotiations of a UN Plastics Treaty at INC-2 in Paris in May, the next six months are going to be very busy on the #microplastics front, with expected publication of - the #eucommission report on #Microplastic #Emissions, and regulatory measures to achieve the #EUGreenDeal objective of reducing them by 30% by 2030, and - an up-date of the Pew Charitable Trusts 2020 "Breaking the Plastic Wave" report. This is all good news for Pinovo in our mission to put the issue of Paint Microplastic Pollution, and our clean circular solution to the problem, "on the agenda"! And don't forget, #PaintIsPlastic!
