Paint protects steel structures from corrosion. When performing maintenance on these structures, old paint and rust is removed, and new paint is applied. With the use of traditional methods for maintenance, the removed paint is normally emitted to the oceans. Paint is plastic. The removed, tiny paint particles are microplastics.

ROBOTICS
Pinovo partnered with the Norwegian robotics solutions provider, Remotion AS back in 2017. Remotion has developed a range of different robotic systems for both the offshore and onshore industry, that can be customized to a wide variety of applications, including fabric maintenance or surface treatment. Robotic Surface Treatment Solutions marry productivity, operator safety and sustainability advantages for customers.
Remotion chose Pinovo’s Clean Blasting Technology as a key part of its “RoboCoat” solution that cleans, blasts and then re-paints steel surfaces above the water line. Pinovo’s PiWalk tool and PiSys Flex equipment provides the clean abrasive blasting technology that delivers a combination of a top quality surface finish, and zero emissions of paint microplastics into the Ocean. Both Pinovo and Remotion continue to innovate to enhance our solutions - with new, higher productivity PiWalk tools from Pinovo, and new, smaller robots like the Proteus Safe from Remotion.
